Jennifer brings a passion for helping institutions and regions improve their technology commercialization outcomes and innovation performance. She has a strong record of research and managerial experience on projects related to tech transfer, innovation and competitiveness, technology-based economic development strategy, university-industry collaboration, impact assessment, and program evaluation.
Jennifer joins TEConomy Partners following 16 years with SRI International’s Center for Innovation Strategy and Policy. At SRI, Jennifer led the innovation ecosystem and tech transfer practice areas. She developed conceptual frameworks and strategies aimed at increasing the level and pace of technology commercialization and startup activity through stronger regional collaboration in the states of Utah, Nebraska, Washington, Georgia, and New York. This work included a focus on innovation metrics. Internationally, she has led the development of workshops of university tech transfer office staff aimed at increasing tech transfer outcomes, as well as university engagement strategies for companies to meet recruitment, innovation and outreach business objectives. She has worked in such diverse economies as Singapore, Japan, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia and Namibia.
On the evaluation side, Jennifer helps clients analyze the performance of programs against their intended objectives and evaluate and communicate the economic impact of programs. These evaluations are used by clients to both modify program design for stronger alignment with goals, as well as to articulate the value of programs to a diverse set of stakeholders. Previous evaluations include impact assessments of technology commercialization and venture development support programs in Utah, Ohio and Oklahoma, on the state side, and federal agency programs that support university-industry research collaboration and technical assistance at the national level.
Jennifer has a M.S. in Economic Development from the University of London SOAS, and a B.A. in International Relations with a minor in Economics from the College of William & Mary.
