Marty Grueber

Principal and Research Director

Marty leads our quantitative analysis team. He has more than 25 years of experience in science and technology-based economic development, economic impact analysis and business analytics, and was previously a Research Leader within Battelle. When it comes to advanced analytics for economic development and impact assessment, Marty has a uniquely qualified resume.

Well-known for his highly cited annual Global R&D Forecast work for Battelle and R&D Magazine, Marty is a thought leader in the world of academic, corporate and government lab R&D. Marty is an expert in the specialized field of quantitative analysis of core competencies, including the cluster analysis of publications, patents, and grants (scientometrics), and is a principal analyst and co-author on most TEConomy Partners economic impact studies.

Prior to joining TEConomy Partners from Battelle, Marty served as deputy director of the Rhode Island Economic Policy Council where he managed the Slater Technology Fund. He also worked as a manager with the Michigan Manufacturing Technology Center, and was a project manager and principal analyst for industry and regional contract research activities for the Industrial Technology Institute.

Marty has an M.A. in Geography from Michigan State University and a B.S. in Social Science from Michigan State University.
